City Edge International Conference – Placemaking

Day 2 of the City Edge International Conference focussed on the concept of Placemaking in relation to urban living in a higher density city. The event’s host, Newstalk’s Shane Coleman was joined by a number of high profile speakers from the world of planning, urban design and architecture.

The conference was led by keynote speaker, Roger Madelin CBE: Joint Head of Canada Water Development, British Land (Leading UK housing and planning agency). Roger was also the former development lead for Kings Cross regeneration in London. The remaining panel members included Mick Mulhern Director of Land Use, Planning and Transportation, South Dublin County Council, who is spearheading the City Edge project, Victoria Hills: Chief Executive, Royal Town Planning Institute and former CEO of the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, Andrew Grant: Founding Director, Grant Associate and Gerard Maccreanor: Director, Maccreanor Lavington Architects.

The conference concluded with a brief address from the Minister for Housing, Darragh O’Brien.
